1st & 2nd Edition

I have found two examples of "Lost Files" for the 1st & 2nd Edition of Talisman. One of which originated from Bob Harris himself, and the other which was part of a particularly nice find on Ebay.

If you have looked at the picture of Bob's prototype "Necromancer" game in the first section, you may possibly have noticed a card on the board depicting a Bull as an Enemy. Not the most exciting of enemies I'll grant you, but a new one for Talisman all the same.

More "Lost" News!
27th August 2010

Having a look over at Bob's website and the assets that he has put online, it would appear that Necromancer is the source of another few "lost" files.

As you can see, there is a variation on the Ghost card from Talisman, with a simple name change to Haunter and another new Animal card, this time a Stag! You can download a mock-up of the card for 2nd Edition at the bottom of the page.

Alongside the remade Adventure card for the Stag you can also see a "new" Character, who goes by the name of Hero. There is only the Character Token for this, so it is unknown currently who or what he is... further news will follow as I find out more!!

The second find was part of a lot I obtained via Ebay which was purported to have been rescued from a Games Workshop clearout. This arrived at my house and just looked like an ordinary Talisman box.

Contained in this box were a Talisman board, a copy of the Rules and Q & A sheet and some random Character and Adventure cards. Not too remarkable really, but then there was a copy of the rules from Talisman - The Adventure, with the Dragon King Ending highlighted PLUS a bag containing 13 mocked up cards pasted over normal Talisman cards. You can actually make out which cards had been used if you look carefully.

It then struck me that this was part of a prototype of the Talisman Dragons expansion set!

The highlighted rules had been taken and made into the Dragon King card and his three younger brothers. These were the Dragon Prince Adventure cards. The other cards were Adventure cards from the expansion, though some had different names. There were also two special cards. One which was new to me and the other which, though an existing card, made mention of the new card!

However!! Judging by the card's wording there seems to be a bit of confusion with whether the Dragon's Gaze card should actually be an Event or a Stranger. So it's been decided that you can make your own mind up ;)

Many thanks go to Djeryv Tar for mocking up the three Adventure cards for display on the site. Larger versions of these cards can be downloaded in a 94KB zip file here.

A larger version of the newly discovered Stag, made using Strange Eons, is available in a 100KB zip file here.
