It’s been frustratingly quiet over the start of the summer with a distinct lack of updates about the various titles coming from Pegasus Spiele this year from the Talisman stable, with any “news” being gleaned from the various distributor sites which may or may not include accurate information.
So, here goes with a fair amount of guesswork based on what is already known, and what might be happening…
The ACD Distribution website seems to have been updated with some new dates for when the reprinted Revised 4th Edition of Talisman and its expansions, plus the new card game, Talisman: Clash of Heroes will be available, which is the 19th of October this year. Of course, this misses the original date that was being touted in August around Gen Con, but it does put it within touching distance of Spiel in Essen!
Then, we have some interesting developments with the upcoming Talisman Adventures: Fantasy Role Playing Game with entries on the Lion Rampant Imports website and on the Pegasus Spiele webstore.
Lion Rampant list FOUR titles for the series – 47500E: Core Rulebook (Hard Cover) and 47501E: Core Rulebook – Alternate Cover (listed elsewhere as Limited Edition) (Hard Cover) (both expected August), plus 47502E: Starter Box (listed elsewhere as Intro Box) and 47503E: GM Screen (both expected November).
However…
On the Pegasus Spiele site a new entry has popped up for 47504E: Talisman Adventures RPG Playtest Guide listed at €8.99, but with no expected date. The dimensions listed would suggest that it is in book format however.
Clearly a “playtest guide” would suggest that the RPG is not quite ready for release and, although it might be disappointing that the game appears to be delayed, it is heartening that they are taking the trouble to move to a playtest “phase” so that the game is good as it can be when it eventually does get a release.
Here’s hoping that we get some official news before too long, and perhaps some updated cover art so we know what to expect over the coming months!
