Wood Elf Noble on Forest Dragon Conversion

When it comes to miniatures, I collect only a few these days. On top of my 3rd Edition Talisman miniature fascination, I have an affinity for Games Workshop miniatures in general, and their 5th through 6th Edition dragons in particular. So when I decided to start collecting Wood Elves, having a forest dragon lead the charge made sense.

But as most players of Warhammer: The Old World can tell you, the price of the vintage models has skyrocketed. It took me months to find an affordable “official” Wood Elf forest dragon, but in the meantime I stumbled across a very different woodland wyvern from Iain Lovecraft’s Feywood crowdfunding project.

I prefer vintage miniatures, but Iain’s dragon is a keeper. It’s got a distinctive Wood Elf vibe, and looks perfect with GW’s Wood Elf Lord mounted on top. While the miniature itself is one of my recent favorites, the painting by Adam Smith of Noice Miniatures puts it through the roof. Adam paints miniatures in acrylics, but he also paints with oils, and for the first time I’ve taken the dive -everything I send off to him will be done up with oil paints.

What do you think of Iain’s forest dragon? Let me know in the comments below.
