Thanks to a post on W. Eric Martin‘s new and most excellent Board Game Beat website yesterday, and as a surprise to nobody who pays attention to these things, we now know that the classic vampire hunting game from Stephen Hand will be returning later this year in time for Gen Con!
Announcement at Board Game Beat
With the upcoming release of Talisman Sagas: Crown of Blood coming in June it would seem that Avalon Hill are having a great old time in the gothic horror world of Bram Stoker this year!
There’s also evidence that the Talisman expansion is being used to help market Fury of Dracula, especially when you check out the blurb on the back of the box!

Not only do we get the clear reference to the Fury of Dracula, but the expansion is also “signalling something ominous on the horizon”!
*Apologies for the image quality above, but it’s the best I’ve got at the moment as I don’t have access to any decent publicity shots… Harrumph.
The great news is, of course, that with the addition of a new Hunter to the game, there will be three miniatures included in the new game that we’ll be able to make into heroes for Talisman!

There’s other things to note about the release, first of which is that they seem to have mixed up the miniatures for Dr. John Seward and Jonathan Harker on the back of the box (check out the art from their respective cards), though it’s hopefully been caught before it’s gone to print.
Secondly, the game is being touted as being part of the Talisman Realm!

While it would be nice to think about the lands of Talisman being all-encompassing, I think it’s more likely that they are using it as a catch-all for games in Games Workshop‘s vast IP collection that aren’t based in the Warhammer universes.
I wonder if this means that we’ll see more games that were previously released by Fantasy Flight Games and GW themselves returning to our shelves under the Talisman Realm/Avalon Hill banner?
I’m hoping that Chainsaw Warrior might see a return, perhaps along with its digital-only sequel Chainsaw Warrior: Lords of the Night that was made by Auroch Digital, though it’s probable that would be a better fit for Cubicle 7 what with their recent release of the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide card game.
Until then I guess I’d better spark up my copy of Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition from Nomad Games to reacquaint myself with the gameplay in the game!
